A little more than a place to stay.
From a picnic in the Wiltshire countryside to an evening beneath the stars, Dudmore experiences are designed for those occasions when doing something memorable feels preferable to doing very much at all.

PICNICS

Take lunch outside.

Choose from a selection of thoughtfully prepared picnic baskets at different price points, filled with locally sourced produce and made for unhurried afternoons in the Wiltshire countryside. Blankets down, glasses poured, nowhere else to be.

GUIDED WALKS

A landscape worth knowing.

There is walking, and then there is knowing what you are looking at. Our privately arranged guided walks reveal the landscape, history and stories surrounding Dudmore—from old lanes and open countryside to traces of the area’s much longer human history. Short walks of under an hour can be arranged to begin and end at the Lodge, with longer excursions available for those wishing to venture further.

Available by arrangement.

STARGAZING

Stay up a little later.

When darkness falls, Dudmore offers another way of seeing the countryside. Away from the concentrated glow of a city centre, the night sky becomes part of the landscape. Guests have use of the Lodge’s telescope for leisurely evenings spent finding planets, constellations and whatever happens to cross the Wiltshire sky.

Bring a blanket. Pour something warming. Look up.

PRIVATE CHEF

Your kitchen. Someone else cooking.

A stay at Dudmore needn’t involve cooking at all. A private chef can be arranged to take care of breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner, creating a relaxed farm-to-table experience around seasonal produce and your preferences.

From a long Sunday brunch to dinner that becomes the event of the evening, all that remains for you to do is take your seat.

WHISKY FLIGHTS

COMING SOON

Not simply a flight, but an exploration of place, cask and character. A carefully composed progression of whiskies will invite guests to consider how provenance, maturation and production reveal themselves through aroma, texture and flavour.

Because the interesting question isn’t simply which whisky do you prefer? It is why?

Coming soon to Dudmore.

WINE TASTING

COMING SOON

A considered journey through grape, place and vintage, designed to make wine more fascinating rather than more complicated. Curated flights will explore how variety, climate, soil and winemaking decisions find their way into the glass.

Taste comparatively. Notice the differences. Discover what your palate actually likes—and why.

Coming soon to Dudmore.

BIRDWATCHING

The early risers have company.

A quieter way to experience Dudmore. Binoculars are available for guests to borrow for an early-morning watch or an evening scan of the gardens and surrounding countryside.

In this part of rural Wiltshire, familiar countryside species can include red kite, buzzard, kestrel, barn owl, tawny owl, woodpeckers, pheasants and an assortment of garden and farmland songbirds—although, naturally, wildlife keeps its own appointments.

BREWERY & DISTILLERY VISITS

Meet the makers.

Go beyond the bottle. Through relationships with breweries and distilleries in the wider region, we can arrange visits that take guests behind the finished drink—to the ingredients, process, people and decisions responsible for what’s in the glass.

Where arranged as part of the experience, collection and return to Dudmore can be organised, leaving everyone free to enjoy the tasting.

THE PUB CRAWL

A very British expedition.

Tell us the mood and we’ll curate a private pub trail through the wider countryside, taking in a contrasting selection of characterful rural stops: perhaps an old village inn, a fireside country pub, somewhere celebrated for its food, and somewhere worth visiting simply because pubs like it are becoming increasingly difficult to find.

Most importantly, we’ll arrange a designated driver, so nobody has to draw the short straw.
